Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising

True tactical shooters like this are normally kept on the PC for the hardcore crowd, but Codemasters has seen fit to bring this serious war simulation to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 as well. There isn’t anything quite like this on the consoles so don’t rush out to buy this in expectation of a Call of Duty style experience. One bullet is enough to end your life. One wrong step into an enemy’s sights is all it takes for you to get taken down as you curse your stupidity. This is a game that rewards patience, planning and a steady hand over twitch reflexes.

Way of the Samurai 3

Acquire’s Way of the Samurai 3 is already out in Japan, but here in North America fans of the series can expect the third entry to show up sometime this October courtesy of UFO Interactive. When first starting up the game you’re given a profile screen where you can see a shot of your character, as well as a variety of records for chain kills, distance traveled and total times apologized.

WWE SmackDown vs Raw 2010

According to THQ, WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 will feature new and improved create modes. In addition to the original create-a-superstar and create-an-entrance modes, the game will introduce the WWE Story Designer mode, an extension to the General Manager mode last seen in WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2008. The player will now be able to design storylines featuring WWE’s weekly shows (Raw, SmackDown, or ECW) and pay-per-views with storylines, scenarios, and matches of their creations using a variety of preset options

Brutal Legend

The newest entry in the series pares things down to the sniper, Green Beret, and spy. Each guy has proficiency with different types of weapons and tactical choices. The sniper, for example, can brave even freezing water, whereas the spy will freeze to death in quick order. The Green Beret can also carry multiple rifles and dual wield pistols. However, he can’t throw his knife like the sniper, or wear enemy uniforms like the spy. Some decisions, like multiple rifles, make sense. Others, like swimming in cold water, don’t as much. But as you go through the missions, which are largely solo or requiring limited input from one of the parties, you’ll come to appreciate their specific skill sets, although there are some quirks.
